Online Storetrixbox CE 2.8 Released
After quite a while going through the beta process, trixbox CE 2.8 is finally ready for production use. The two main changes from previous versions are that trixbox CE is now based on a newer CentOS kernel which should provide more hardware support for newer machines. Secondly, Asterisk 1.6 has replaced Asterisk 1.4 as the engine under the hood of trixbox CE. Using the newest version of Asterisk 1.6 will allow for the new FAX for Asterisk code from Digium to work as well as provide a number of new features and performance enhancements.
On the downside, a few things that used to work in trixbox CE currently do not. These include:
- FOP (Flash Operator Panel)
FOP requires some changes to work right with Asterisk 1.6, this should be fixed in an upcoming version - OSLEC (Open Source Line Echo Cancellation)
Again, this is going to require an update from the OSLEC developers - HUDlite
HUDLite was designed to work with earlier versions of Asterisk and does not work with Asterisk 1.6. If you are wanting HUD for trixbox CE you will have to wait until they release HUD3 sometime later this year.

I wanted to use HUDlite with Trixbox 2.8.0.3 which comes with Asterisk 1.6 but after read this and a post on the trixbox's official forum I discovered that I can't =(
