3CX Auto Provision Templates – Aastra 6730i and 6731i
I just completed a few Auto Provision Templates for 3CX. I had a Customer looking to take advantage of the built in provisioning in 3CX, as he had a large quantity of Aastra 6730i and 6731i IP phones. At this time though, the current version of 3CX does not have templates in place for those model phones.
After doing some research, I made a template for both the 6730i and 6731i models.
These are base templates for provisioning these 2 models of phones with 3CX. These will allow you to plug and play, and will load your phone with the correct Proxy and Registrar Servers, Display Names, Extension Info, and Passwords. These Templates will not however assign any BLF settings, you will still have to configure those yourself if need be. I hope to have a working BLF config in the coming weeks.
You can download both the 6730i template and the 6731i template here.
To add these templates to your 3CX and begin provisioning these models phones, follow these easy steps.
- 1) Take the 2 Config templates and put them into the 3CX Provisioning Folder (Dependent on version of windows)
- a. Windows XP or Windows 2003: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\3CX\Data\Http\templates\phones\
- b. Windows Vista or Windows 2008: C:\ProgramData\3CX\Data\Http\templates\phones\
- 2) Open your 3CX, and set up a new extension (Username, Number, password, etc.) You should now see the new models in the drop down for phone model in the provisioning tab (You may have to close and re-open 3CX). Fill in the Phone’s MAC address and save the extension. You are done with the 3CX portion.
- 3) Power on your factory default Aastra Phone. Once powered on, click the ‘Options ‘Button.
- a. In the Options Menu, Choose Number 6 – Admin Menu
- i. This will be password locked with your phone password – The Default Aastra Password is 22222.
- b. Next, choose menu option 1 – Config Server
- c. In the Config Server Settings, change menu option 1 – ‘Download Protocol’ to ‘HTTP’.
- d. Scroll down to the Config Server Menu Option 4, and select the ‘HTTP Settings’ option.
- e. Within the ‘HTTP Settings’ menu, make the following changes
- i. HTTP Server – Change this option to the IP of your 3CX (Local IP)
- ii. HTTP Path – Change this two one of two options
- 1. If you installed 3CX using Microsoft IIS as the Web Interface, use the path ‘ /management/provisioning/’ – MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE THE PROPER FORWARD SLASHES, which are available by pressing the # key.
- 2. If you are using Cassini, just enter /provisioning/
- iii. PORT – This changes the HTTP Interface Port
- 1. For IIS – Port 80
- 2. For Cassini – Port 4581
- iv. Save these changes and reboot your Phone
- a. In the Options Menu, Choose Number 6 – Admin Menu
- 4) Your Phone will pull your config from the server, and once it comes back up, you will have a fully registered and provisioned phone!
